Mom’s Crafty Blog

This is the blog I helped Mom setup during my Cali vacation! There’s only one post at the moment (and an about me page), but you should still check it out! Any feedback as far as layout or formatting will gratefully be taken into consideration (leave comments on this post)

The Heat of Summer

I live in Colorado, the Denver area. People around here tend to rate how hot summers are based on how many days get over 90°F, so it doesn’t get very hot here. Before the POTS, I thought this heat was absolutely nothing. My car doesn’t have A/C (and hasn’t since before I got my license), and the apartment I lived in with Dan was my only residence in CO with A/C (the house before that had a swamp cooler, but it didn’t work too terribly well). So yeah, my house doesn’t have A/C.

My house, a townhouse, is oriented north to south (front door north, back is south). Well, the north side stays cool, well, cooler. But the south side gets HOT. We have a window in the kitchen, one in the powder room, one in the office, technically two in the master but they are connected to form one giant window, two venting skylights in the master bedroom, and a sliding glass door. Weddings and POTS

I really enjoyed the wedding in California, but it ended up wreaking havoc on my symptoms, unfortunately. This was the wedding of the girl I’ve known since we were eight, and had asked to be my maid of honor, so symptoms were anything but “okay” during this wedding. They crashed the wedding, but I was completely determined to enjoy every minute, so I did. Why did my symptoms crash the wedding? The Los Angeles area gets extremely hot during the summer, especially the farther you get from the coast. As an example, my parents’ area is supposed to get to 105°F on both Thursday and Friday… and that’s the kind of heat I got used to while growing up!

Cutting in Time for School

I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. K today, to see if the eardrops had worked (yes, I was able to continue them for the entire ten days). They have!!!! 😀 I no longer have any infections in my ear!!! This is cause for some major dancing around, my ear has been infected since the middle of March!

Anyone Have a Charger?!

Need Charger

Exhausted today, I think I’m still fighting off a cold… I haven’t actually felt my 100% since about the 14th or so (can’t remember exactly). I’ve been pushing a little too hard on this vacation, and my body is so fatigued. Yesterday was spent mostly on the couch at my parents’ house, watching Soap (absolutely hilarious sitcom from the late 70s). Today was also rather restful. Well, Dan slept most of the day 😛 He really needs it though, because I usually wake him up a lot at night for help, so he never gets quite enough sleep. He was able to sleep most of the day because I spent most of it helping my mom get her blog and website setup! Once they’re done, I’ll share 🙂

I did get to see one of my BFFs, Krystal, and her adorable 1 1/2 year old, Lexi, today though! We had breakfast, it was awesome! I never see them enough, but it makes seeing them even more special. (But I would def be 100% okay with more!) Krystal and I have known each other since I was 14, and we’ve been pretty dang close the entire time. She’s like an older sister to me, and I really do hate not being able to see her more often. But life is life, and I’m just glad I do get to see her and we stay in touch best we can 🙂 Hopefully, someday we’ll live in the same state again (or at least only a few hours apart).

Vacation and Pain

So, the last trip I took wasn’t all that painful… it was exhausting, sure, but there were very few things that caused me pain. I was actually really surprised.

BRB Body Malfunction

Unfortunately, this time is a bit different. I’d been stiff and sore before we left for Cali… and it hasn’t gotten any better. I’ve been far more active this vacation than I have been in the past three months (well, probably more) and I can physically tell. Everything from the waist down feels like it’s been run over by a steam roller, and then my ear. I’m enjoying myself immensely, but, tomorrow is a necessary “rest” day (at least just hang around my parents’ house and take it easy).

One of my BFFs is getting married this coming Saturday, and I really need to get energy for that! I can’t wait! And I’m hoping I’ll have a bunch of photos to share from it (it should be gorgeous)!

Pain Level

Whoopsie Daisy!!!

I’m so sorry guys! I just realized I haven’t posted anything since I left for California! Right now I’m visiting with my family in California, so I’ve been busy enjoying them and I haven’t even turned on my computer. I have a few post ideas, so when I get a moment I’ll share!

I will also be helping Mom setup her Etsy shop this vacation! She is and extremely talented jewelry maker, so stay tuned!!!

“Stay on the Drops” …Oh No…

Yeah, so that’s what my doctor said. He wants me to stay on the drops for as long as I can possibly stand them… Maybe I’ll boost my pain tolerance even more? Ugh. I’ll just need to drain them immediately after I feel them start to burn apparently. Ugh.

Time for an extremely painful week… if I can last that long.

(Here is the original post about the drops)
