Soak Up the Season: Outdoor Activity Challenge

Here in the northern hemisphere, the weather is cooling off as we move into fall. Well, it’s supposed to be anyway, but Colorado has still been unseasonably hot; I’m optimistic though! Heat and dysautonomia are a rough combination on me, so the slightly cooler weather of early fall allows me to do a lot more! This summer seems to have been hotter than usual for most people, and even my able-bodied friends that are extremely active in summer have been struggling.

In the southern hemisphere, I know it’s starting to get a little warmer as you move into spring. The “transition seasons” have some gorgeous weather for getting outside and being active. Even though they can be a tad unpredictable, the nice days tend to be full of weather that’s neither too hot nor too cold. I always try to take full advantage of these short seasons!

Happy Fall Ya’ll

It’s now officially fall! Yesterday was the autumnal equinox, which marks the first official day of fall here in the northern hemisphere.

One of my friends, CL, shared an interesting article on her Facebook about why fall is the only season that has two names (one thing I know I have personally wondered about many times). I thought it was an interesting, and not too terribly long, read:

Why Is Autumn the Only Season With Two Names?

Do you have a preference for what you call this season? I use both fall and autumn about equally. Sometimes I’ll even use both in the same sentence! I do really love the name Autumn, as well.

Is this your favorite season? Even if it isn’t your favorite season, what is your favorite part of the season? I absolutely love watching the trees change (so gorgeous!), the smells, the crunch of the leaves underfoot, the feeling of the crisp breeze, and hoodies!!! I also love hot tea and cozy blankets, but I get to keep those all through winter too 😉

In September, while my mom was here, we went driving to look at some fall color! We ended up on Mt Evans. Both Dan and I were quite impressed that my mom could get out of the car and walk around up there!!! There are people who live in Denver (5280 ft above sea level), and have their whole life, that cannot walk around at 14,000 feet above sea level. My mom is from only 1700 feet elevation, AND has adult onset asthma! Go Mom! Here are some fun pictures from there:

Mt Evans – from September

Mt Evans – Coming Soon!

Dan and I took Mom up to Mount Evans a little while ago, hoping to see fall color. We actually went on a LONG drive, not just up the mountain, but it was a lot of fun! 🙂 And Dan and I were quite impressed at Mom’s lack of altitude sickness since she’s from about 1700 feet above sea level and Mt Evans is of 14000 feet above sea level! There are people that have lived in Denver their whole lives that can’t function up on top of the 14ers.

Anyway, I’ll hopefully get a post written up soon!
