Just Keep Going and Going and Going: How I Wish I Could Do My Housework

Dan and I are working on some house stuff this weekend! We spent pretty much all day Friday and most of Saturday running errands… We got doors for the shelf unit that is holding the overflow kitchen stuff, because it’s been driving me nuts with how cluttered it looks (since it’s a functional shelf, not a pretty shelf). We also got wall shelving for the office and bedroom (the kind with the metal tracks on the wall that make adjusting shelf height really simple), figured out which air filter we would like to get (and noticed that we have a 20% off coupon for it, thankfully), found a tower fan we like, found a container for wallets and keys, new and low flow toilets for the upstairs bathrooms, and other such things. We’ve been cleaning and organizing the house, which is why we knew some of what we needed.

Flare Week

My allergies have been so horrendous that my symptoms have been extremely flared up all week. There is a ton of pollen in the air 😥 I have been dealing with fibro pain, crazy POTS things, headaches, and my insomnia has decided to join the party too. This does not make for a happy Lizzy… ugh.

yes, that's 96 bpm and 85% oxygen... while lying down. and my wedding ring isn't on because my hand is swollen...

yes, that’s 85 bpm and 96% oxygen… while lying down. and my wedding ring isn’t on because my hand is swollen.

Have I also mentioned that my wrist has been extremely messed up since Monday evening? Not sure what happened, but if it’s still this painful tomorrow, I’m going to go to Urgent Care… otherwise I’m just going to wait until I see Joleen on Monday so she can evaluate it (so I don’t look like a druggy).

Ugh, the pain…

So I somehow did something to my wrist… or at least it thinks I did. During Pilates on Monday my right wrist acted up, so Joleen was able to take a look at it. She doesn’t think my bones move properly (like the rest of the bones in my body haha, sigh), which is causing them to pinch nerves. Then, late that night, my left wrist started hurting. It was a different pain, just kind of felt like I jammed it. Well, it STILL hurts so badly that I have been wearing my brace almost constantly (it’s been giving me a heat rash type of thing, so I’ve had to take breaks) since Monday night. I am starting to wonder what’s wrong with it. I’m going to have Joleen take a peak at it on Monday, which is our next one-on-one session… but until then, I’m stuck with this excruciating pain in my wrist. I’ve been doing my best to hide the magnitude of the pain, because I don’t want to pay for an Urgent Care visit (it just doesn’t feel that urgent, honestly, but it probably is more so than I am allowing) nor do I want to worry Dan. He can tell it’s really bad though, I can’t hide all of the winces and exclamations…

Just… need… to… make… it… to… Monday!

At least I can take pain meds now 😉

Drumroll Please… The Food Allergy Skin Test Results Are In!

Food Test Title Image

I just got back from doing the skin test for foods. I hate doing these… My ENT office (and now allergist office) first does a scratch test on the inside of your forearms. Then, if you didn’t have a reaction larger than 9mm, they inject the same things right under the skin (intradermal test)… that’s the uncomfortable part.

Overload Meltdown

System overload.

Overwhelmed

Most uncomfortable thing that happens to me, on a regular basis; especially since all my chornics started up. Yes, since means it happened before the chronics. It didn’t happen as often, but it would happen, and it sucked just as much. Now, the overloads are triggered a lot easier, come on harder, and are even more uncomfortable.

Ugh, thanks testing…

My eye has been running very painfully and constantly for almost two hours now. Why? Well, I can’t take any of my allergy medications because of the allergy testing on Thursday… and there is a ton of pollen in the air… and we have to sleep with the windows open or the room is too hot… and, well, our bedroom is dusty because it faces the busy street behind us and we sleep with the windows open. I’m hoping that I’ll just pass out cold before my eye liquefies entirely and my body explodes. Needless to say, this is NOT a good health night.

The “Allergen Account”, and the Shots to Combat It

Last week I started my allergy shots. Turns out I’ll be doing two shots (one in each arm) once a week for the next, well, probably two to three years. Left arm is always going to be molds, right arm will always be pollens. They’re given in a weird spot though, the back of my upper arm. I’m supposed to monitor the injection site… how am I expected to do that when they’re back there?! It involves sense of touch, mirrors and lots of twisting, I can tell you that much.

How This New Potsie Survived the Colorado Renaissance Festival

renfest titleimage

I did it! I managed to survive the Colorado Renaissance Festival this year! I wasn’t diagnosed with POTS until fairly recently, so I’m still discovering what I can and can’t do, and symptoms are still appearing. However, I have only missed one RenFest the entire time I have been in Colorado (the summer of my wedding), so I wasn’t going to miss it this year!!! How did I do it? Well, let me tell you!
