Crazy Life… But, Gotta Love It! Right?

Life has been crazy.

  • I’m still recovering and it’s taking a LOT of energy. Though, I’m making major progress on my ear pain and have been able to reduce the pain killers.
  • School. School = homework. Right now: homework = reading multiple chapters. ‘Nuff said.
  • Fibromyalgia is a … unwelcome guest. I was doing so well, too. Oh well, I knew getting my hopes up that this surgery wouldn’t trigger a flare was a bad idea.
  • POTS is also unwelcome, but doesn’t care that I don’t want it around. And my insomnia is flaring up too. Overall, not much fun on the Chronic side of things, and too many unwanted guests hanging around.

So much going on, so many spoons that I want to spend, so many spoons that I don’t have. I also don’t tend to post much on weekends because Dan is home. I adore Dan, and I love spending as much time with him as I possibly can while he’s home. Monday was Labor Day this time, so he was also home; and now he’s on a business trip, so I definitely was not going to be on my computer. I didn’t even turn my computer on Sunday or Monday!

Woh! Record Views!!!

I don’t know what I did, other than publish one post in the late afternoon, but you guys went completely bonkers yesterday! Bonkers in a very good way 🙂 I ended up with 42 total views (yes, I realize that several of you probably get several times that many on average, but I’m a newbie). My previous record was 33. I’m glad that people are reading my blog, and liking what I’m writing. If there is specific content that you’d like to see (or see more of), let me know in the comments!

I’m going to be starting Blogging 101 through Blogging U (from “The Daily Post”) on Monday. Expect some changes and “assignments” to show up on my blog as a result! Maybe someday soon I’ll look at this post and giggle about “how low” the view count was when I got this excited… I suppose we shall see!

Posting Made Difficult…

For some reason, the mobile version of the website has suddenly been making it almost impossible to post. Everything’s I clicked on either the “add a new post” in the top bar OR “add” next to “blog posts” from the “my site” page, it asked me to choose a site. I only have this one. I’d click on it, and it would take me to stats. I finally had to click on the admin link to get to the more involved dashboard, then open the side menu, THEN click on “add post” … UGH! Don’t know what’s going on with that craziness.

Anyway, I was trying to post a very quick update letting you all know that I am going to the doctor tomorrow… He wants to make sure the pain isn’t from any sort of complication. It’s actually a different doctor in the same office because mine is fully booked. Hopefully this pain is just from my fibro…

Delayed Postings

So, I realized I need to stop apologizing for being late with my posts. There is nothing wrong with providing you guys an explanation, but I can’t keep apologizing. I just don’t need the guilt.

All of you with chronic illnesses understand that life is anything but predictable for us, and sometimes even breathing hurts. Those of you without Chronics understand that life just can get crazy sometimes.

Yesterday (8/31), I wrote up a post. Completely typed in a Word doc. I found photos I wanted to go with it. Then, my pain medication wore off and BAM!!!!! out for the count. So, now that post will get posted a little later today (9/1). Hopefully, my regular blogging schedule will return shortly!

Mermaids and Griffins and Dragons, Oh My!

On Saturday, August 22nd, we went to the Natural History Museum. We have a membership, so we can get in for free anytime we want. I didn’t actually feel too fantastic, but I REALLY wanted to see the Mythic Creatures exhibit! The MC exhibit opened on my birthday (March 19), and is leaving either this weekend or the next. Missing it wasn’t an option for me, really, and I knew I wouldn’t be up to it after the surgery… so off we went on Saturday!

The Sock Problem

I have a problem. A sock problem.

Yes, you read that correctly… socks.

What in the world is a sock problem? I’m obsessed with “fun” socks. I don’t care about basic socks, I like patterned, crazy colored, and unusual socks! How many socks make a problem? Well, according to Dan, it’s the amount of socks that are currently in my closet. Yes, they’re in the closet. I have enough socks they have their own drawers (yup, plural) that go in my closet.

Class, Surgery, Life, Anxiety… The List Goes On…

I’m sorry that I don’t have time for a long post… I need to be waking up in just over four hours. Blogging has been something I really enjoy, and not having had time to post has been rough. But, I can at least give you a quick update about today and my feelings about tomorrow.

Oops! M.I.A. Lizz…

The last few days have been pretty crazy, which is why I’ve been missing in action. I do apologize! I have been really enjoying my blogging, and I am hoping to get a good post up tomorrow, then have Dan get up some posts while I recover from surgery.

Sorry today’s blog post is so late, but I had a busy day! (Lots of photos below!!)

Yesterday (8/19), the corpse flower at the Denver Botanic Gardens (DBG) bloomed! This is a big deal. This is the first bloom this plant has produced, and it is 15 years old. The blooms only last 24-48 hours, and the plants only bloom (on average) every 7-10 years. There are two “corpse flowers” in Sumatra (the only place they can be found), this is the Amorphophallus titanium corpse flower… the other one isn’t related and none are housed at the DBG. Dan got off work a little early (about 4:30) so that we could go see it. We got there, and there was a sign saying the wait would be 4+ hours… yes, HOURS! It’s a flower… so, no thank you? Turned out, it was kind of a good thing we didn’t go. Dan needed to be at work at 6am today, and people that got to DBG at 8pm didn’t get to the flower until 1:30am. That would have sucked.

My Personal Romantic Comedy

Sometimes, you watch something that just hits you in a really weird way. Even when you’ve seen it several times before. This just happened to me with the movie “Because I Said So.” If you haven’t seen it, it’s a really cute and quirky romantic comedy featuring Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. Diane Keaton is Mandy Moore’s mother, a MAJOR helicopter mom, and decides Mandy must settle down so fixes her up with one guy and another guy meets her and she starts dating both. It’s hilarious, and touching. I won’t spoil the ending with details, but she ends up happy with one and unhappy with the other. I love romantic comedies, always have. Now, however, they stir up interesting emotions because I’m married to the love of my life.
