I mentioned my stomach hurting in the last post. Out of desperation, I sent Dan to the store for some milk of magnesia… as a kid, I was always constipated, so I know this stuff does actually help get things moving. Quite honestly, I just want it to clear me out so that my abdomen can stop cramping (I’m hoping it’s because my intestines aren’t moving things around properly, instead of something worse). I took a half dose (you can spread them out). Suddenly… MY NAUSEA AND STOMACH CRAMPS ARE (almost completely) GONE!!! This is so bizarre. Dan said that the bottle says “soothes the stomach.” I had no idea it could why I would suddenly feel so much better, but I’ll take it. Anyone have any ideas as to why this might have worked? Any similar experiences?

Back to Bland
My stomach had been really bad for two days, and still hurt this morning. It’s been upset for even longer. So, I’m going back on a bland diet for a few days… Hopefully, it can reset my stomach before we head to Cali for Thanksgiving (leaving Friday).
In September, while my mom was here, we went driving to look at some fall color! We ended up on Mt Evans. Both Dan and I were quite impressed that my mom could get out of the car and walk around up there!!! There are people who live in Denver (5280 ft above sea level), and have their whole life, that cannot walk around at 14,000 feet above sea level. My mom is from only 1700 feet elevation, AND has adult onset asthma! Go Mom! Here are some fun pictures from there:

Medication is Actually Working?!?!
You know you have POTS when you get overly excited by your standing heart rate being 80bpm… And the medical assistant does too! Blood pressure was also down to 112/72 for once! Yay!
I am currently taking Corlanor and Bystolic for my heart. I am not a doctor, please consult your’s before changing any medication… especially before changing heart medication.
Natural Therapy
Oh man, do I miss hiking. Dan and I used to go hiking all the time. We both used to go hiking all the time long before we met each other.
For me, nature was always a kind of natural medicine. I’ve struggled with depression for most of my life, but being out in nature… well, that was a different story. Hiking out into the trees, getting away from people, getting away from cars, getting away from noise, it always calmed my soul down. I love the smell of pine trees, especially in the cool air, and the sound they make when the wind blows through them. It really is amazing how fast it can work. I have gone hiking because I was angry, because I was sad, just because I felt the need to, and it is almost always immediate. The second I’m into nature, I start to feel a change. Everything in my body relaxes. My breathing slows and deepens. My brain actually shuts off and focuses for once. I feel relaxed and happy.
Why Do I Write? A Crazily Long Answer
Why Do You Write?
Wow, that is quite the question, isn’t it?
Well, I tried to answer it on The Story of the Silver Sun and What’s in a Name? pages. However, I also tried to keep those descriptions succinct so that people would actually read them. Let me see if I can elaborate. (I may repeat myself a little, as you may notice if you read those pages, so please be patient. I’m just going to tell the whole story.)
Sticky, Gooey Testing
I had my abdominal ultrasound today. If you’ve ever had an ultrasound, you suddenly understand my title 😛 For those of you that haven’t had one, I’ll explain the title in a moment.
The Ear Saga Continues -&- Crazy Allergies -&- Functional Medication
So, as I mentioned earlier: I have another ear infection. Yes, another one. Yes, the same ear that was just operated on. Yes, the same ear that has pretty much been non-stop infected since mid-March. Yes, I’m about to rip it off and throw it out the door and make it fend for itself.
ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!
Yes, in simply naming this post “ARGHHHHHHHH” because it’s the only thing that fits. I suppose I could have put “holy duckling dam” as well, which is what I sent my friend because I’m trying to cut back on swearing. Anyway. Why the frustration?
I HAVE ANOTHER EAR INFECTION!!!!
I am so over even having a left ear.
Luckily, it didn’t sound like this one should be too bad. The doctor said I just have a few spots of irritation which are weeping, and the ooze is what is infected. I start eardrops again today. I also now am under orders to point a hairdryer into my ear (from 12″ away) for a full minute to dry it out.
Can my ear just get better already? This is ridiculous. At this point, I’m just going to start classifying this under “chronic.” ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
GI Appointment: New Medication, More Testing
I went to my gastroenterologist today. The appointment’s purpose was to follow-up on my eosinophilic esophagitis, which is actually doing a lot better on the ranitidine and on the rotation diet. I’m hoping it continues to improve as my allergens die off. We have also been working on doing a thorough clean of our house, which we just haven’t gotten a chance to do since we moved in (we do clean, just not a thorough job around the whole house every time). I am going to go see Dr N tomorrow (allergist) and I’m going to ask for specifics on the testing (like what chemical they tested for the “house dust,” even though he only did food he should know), so hopefully I’ll know exactly what I need to know to better control this EoE thing. Right now, not having throat spasms daily and not having choked in months is a plus! A huge plus!
